Tired

Another doctor's appointment this morning. It's not that far to Little Rock, but I try to make my appointments early so I can get back to work. Like 7:30 early. So I usually drive down the night before and stay with Whitney or Angie. Looks like Angie will be the winner from now on since Whit and Adam moved back to Fayetteville. I think I have a permanent camp set up in their spare bedrooms! It just makes me tired for the rest of the day/week, especially when I have two or three appointments a week. Dr visit went ok, I'm still optimistic. So you can be optimistic with me! :)

We had a sad thing happen last night in our town. A young girl tried to take her life, actually one of our neighbors. She is at Children's right now but I haven't heard anything within the last few hours. I believe she was around 15. Sad. It's times like this when Kyle starts in on death questions...and I sure don't have the answers. I don't understand but I'm just praying for the family.

On a lighter note, I'll leave you with a quote from one of my kiddos today. You'll love it.
Kid: "Follow me to the chapel of....of...finance."
Me: "The chapel of finance??"
Kid: "No, no, I meant the chapel of ROMANCE!"

....oh, where do they come up with this stuff??!!

22

Happy Birthday to Allie! She is 22 today. I can't believe she is almost done with college and getting married in a few months. Today, she said "this is my last birthday as a Dickey!!" That girl is so funny, and we laughed the whole spring break thanks to her! We got manicures and pedicures yesterday for her birthday. Fun times.

And, MaryBeth, I think something is wrong with my iPhoto?? I click on the picture icon and a screen pops up with picture files, but I can't see the picture...and I refuse to go write down the number of the picture I want and then search to find it to put it in here! So when I get this figured out, I'll post some pictures along the way.

Just a little about our life here lately...
A year or so ago, Kyle and I decided we were ready to try to start a family. I had been off birth control for a while, but we weren't really "trying." When we actually started trying and it didn't work immediately, I was shocked. I thought, you get married, you have kids and it's all that easy. But, I found out, for some people it's not that easy. We tried it all...anything I heard that could "help" you get pregnant I did. I won't go into detail, but trust me, I tried it all! Last May, I talked to Kyle about going to the fertility clinic. I wasn't a big fan. I wanted a baby so bad, but because of what some people had shared with me, I thought I would be messing with nature, and what God had planned. I have heard a million times, "When it's meant to happen, it will happen." and "Quit trying and you will get pregnant." So I made the appointment... And I canceled the appointment. I thought we would give it a try a little while longer. Still no luck.

November rolled around and Kyle was behind me full force when I made the appointment again. I didn't mention that before this referral, I talked with my gyn doctor (who I love) and we did some pre-tests to determine if there was any reason for infertility. We found that I have a partially blocked tube which could be the culprit. We went to the appointment and were very optimistic when we left: Kyle's insurance covered 100% up to a certain amount, and the doctor didn't think we would have to do anything invasive at this point. Since November I've taken several different medications. I'm not a big medicine-taker so this is an adjustment. I have done everything he has asked but not without question :) I just wonder sometimes why I'm taking a certain medicine if my body already does what the medicine is prescribed to do. But he is the expert, here.

Last month, we tried IUI and were very hopeful, although the success rate is the same as a typical try for pregnancy (15-20%). We were hopeful, but realistic...an 80% chance it could NOT work. Still, when I took the test and it said "not pregnant" I was still let down...I guess that is the word.

We know that our timing is not God's timing. I have been ok throughout this whole thing. Sad, yes but I haven't had a meltdown, lol. It is not my place to understand God's plan, but I sure would like to know it! I also know that we are put through trials so that someday, we can help others in the same situation. This is what keeps me afloat.

New

I've never liked to write, so these will be all but perfect. I want you to know what's going with us, and I want this to be a way I can talk about things without having to unload on Kyle. Lots more to come... :)

For today, a little background information:
As most of you know, I have been married for 3 1/2 years. Kyle and I dated on and off for a long while, and finally decided we better get married before the "off again" cycle started again, lol. Since we've been married we have rented, sold a car, bought a house, changed jobs, lost ones we love, come close to losing ones we love, talked each other through family affairs, argued over little (and big!) things, and we have been fortunate enough to travel: Mexico, Colorado, Jackson Hole Wyoming, Florida, Las Vegas, Europe, and hunting trips to who knows where (I don't attend those). I love to travel and have really been able to see a lot here lately, since I moved to contract work. Basically, I'm self employed. And I love it.

I currently work for two therapy companies in the public schools. I have recently been offered a job at a school full time. I will start in August and I'm so excited that I will be in one place, rather than 5. I will definitely miss who I work with but am excited to start this new journey.

A couple of years ago, I started painting when Kyle was gone hunting. It has turned out to be a great hobby that I love and a nice little on-the-side job. I paint picture frames, wooden letters, canvases, canvas bins, and I make fabric bows, bow holders, door signs, and tutus. Recently, I've made lots of things to match kids' bedding, which is really fun and a bit challenging at times!

Kyle works for a poultry company as a field representative. He just got news he's changing routes, and I think he's pumped! A little change of routine does everyone a little good. I will be the first to say though that he is not a big fan of change. He likes routine, and is a tad bit OCD. Some characteristics? Sweeps daily, moves all the non-occupied hangers to one spot in the closet, lines up his watch, wallet, and pocket knife to where they are all equal lengths away from the edge of the nightstand, keeps his truck so clean on the inside you could eat off the floormats, and checks on his mounted deer heads daily in fear they will fall off the wall (again...actually that did happen and he's a bit nervous now). Needless to say, he despises my "important piles" all over the house.

Off to bed, yes, to bed at 9:15 on a Saturday night. The story of my life....
Check back, I will update more on our life journeys lately.

Oh, and if you have any tips on uploading pics from a mac, please do share!
