The Retrieval

The day came to retrieve the eggs we had been working so hard to grow. We didn't care about number, but about quality. We prayed over these eggs like nobody's business!

Charity stayed with me the multiple appointments leading up to this day. I posted about what we did a few posts back. They had difficulty getting blood the last time I went, so I asked her to specifically pray that they would find a good vein for my IV- and they got it on the first try! It had been taking up to four tries just to get blood.

The retrieval takes about 45 minutes. Dr. K aspirated all of the follicles and was able to get 10 eggs. He said everything looked good and went well. We ate at Panera (I just had tomato soup...full stomach + anesthesia = not full stomach anymore!). Kyle wanted Taco Bell but I said heck no.

So we headed back home, leaving our little eggs in Oklahoma City to grow in a petri dish, hoping and praying for the best. One. We just. need. one...
